The Diamond Economy
Diamonds are Terra Nova's currency. Learn how trade works, how to claim and run a shop in the Shopping District, and the rules that keep the market fair.
Terra Nova has no server-run money. Diamonds are the currency of the realm, and every price, wage and bargain is settled in diamonds. Everything for sale was mined, farmed or crafted by a player.
How trade works
- Shops. Player shops in the Shopping District sell and buy goods around the clock using Shopkeepers.
- Direct trades. Agree on a deal in the
/ttrade channel or in private, then meet up and exchange. - Commissions. Many players take orders for builds, farms, enchanted gear or bulk materials.
Trade safely: for big deals, meet in person in game or use a shop. Scams break the rules and are punished like theft.
The Shopping District
The Shopping District is the realm’s market town and its economic heart.
- Claiming a plot: open a ticket on Discord and wait for approval before you build. Plots are assigned. You can’t simply take one.
- One shop per player, unless staff give permission for more.
- Start building within one week of your plot being approved. Empty plots, especially plots full of villagers, are not allowed.
- Medieval style only. Buildings must fit the district’s medieval look and stay at or below 35 blocks tall. Larger landmark buildings need the Lords’ approval.
- No farms in the Shopping District.
- Stay stocked. A shop that stays inactive for one month may be auctioned, resold or reassigned.
- Keep your base away. Bases must stay outside the district’s main islands, and more than 1,000 blocks from it.
Villagers and trading halls
Villager trading is part of the economy, but please trade responsibly:
- Never take every villager from a village. Breed a pair there and use them to breed as many as you need.
- Keep villager halls from getting overcrowded, because crowded halls hurt server performance.
- Stacking raid farms are not allowed.
Gems
Gems are a second, collectible currency found in loot chests and traded for decorative heads. See Gems & the Nova Bank.
